Absence without leave

No employee shall remain absent without permission. If an employee remains absent for more than 10 days /or absents himself beyond a period of leave. Originally granted or subsequently extended, he shall lose his lien on his appointment unless he returns within 3 days of the expiry of the said absence and explains to the satisfaction of the Management, the reasons for his inability to return before the expiry of the leave. If the explanation is found satisfactory by the Management, the absence shall be treated as ‘Leave without pay’.

Calculation of Loss of pay:
An employee who has availed leave without having sufficient leave in this account will lose his pay corresponding to the number of days of absence.

Ex: Loss of pay calculation = Basic pay per day x Number of days of absence

“Days of absence” means the number of days for which sufficient leave not available

  • If an employee goes on leave without any advance intimation to the management, disciplinary action may be taken against him. This may lead to (but not restricted to) loss of pay in the next salary (without deduction from Privilege leave account)
  • If an employee is absent without prior notice during company organised events / get togethers, then the per head pro rata expense incurred in organising the event shall be deducted from the employee's salary account as contribution towards organising the event. Also the same would affect the employee’s rating during appraisal.
